cant drag drop pictures into imovie 11

wont let me drag drop images from iphoto into the lower picture area and now not into the upper picture area

i did drag in one pic to the upper. then I deleted it and when I went to drag it in again it shows black when played

then the next pic i drag in plays the original pic

in iPhoto

I created a new album, added the pics I want to import into imovie. closed imove then reopened it.

now when I drag the pics into the upper window of imovie (it says importing). they do not show up.

any alternatives or fixes?

(macbook pro bought 2012; os X 10.7.5)

create new project and import pics first - then copy/paste movie clips from original movie here.

lose the animated text & some movies come in upside down (can rotate them easily)

still hope there is a real bug fix

In iMovie, you drag pictures into a Project. There is no need to drag pictures into an Event.

You are not crazy for thinking this should work, though. In Final Cut Pro X, you can add pictures to an Event.
