I think you want to upgrade your operating system to a later one that will allow the iTunes synch. In order to advise you please provide the information that  BDAqua has outlined.

If you mean the info about your Mac, then no, it affects nothing.

according to MacTracker you have an early 2009 17inch MacBook Pro. You can upgrade to the latest version of Mac OS X Mountain lion (10.8.2).
