By the way: My plan is to use clone carbon copy to create a clone of my current HDD at Momentus XT and do the booting test with the Momentus XT as external drive before swapping them. I don't plan to create more than one partition. What do you think?

The plan was good. I bought the hdd Momentus XT, put it into external drive case (USB), formated it, created one partition, used carbon copy cloner to create a clone from the original hdd. Then restarted MBP by using external drive for booting as a test. All worked fine, but after replacing old hdd with the clone, MBP couldn't detect the new hdd/clone, i.e a folder image with questionmark inside was shown on the display.

Do you have any idea what is wrong here?

The story goes on.

Finally there was a jumper setting at the HDD necessary to reduce the bit rate from 6 to 3 GBit/s. Well, that was easy, HDD is now working with my MBP.

But now the key light doesn't work at all. Do you have any idea why and how to turn them on?

Confusing is also that in the system settings, Startvolume, the HDD s not shown there, even it starts in fact with it. What can I do to fix that? I guess I'll get some problems with istallation of new programms/application.

Thank you for the link to ifixit. They recommended to me to use the jumper settings on the HDD.
