Thanks for taking the time to reply, the iPod is under my husbands iTunes account, would I need to sign into his account and sync from there? Thanks in advance.
If the content is already on the computer that you sync the iPad to then as long as his account is authorised on it (via the Store > Authorise This Computer menu option) then you should be able to sync it to the iPad in the same way that it was synced to the iPod (syncing music).
If the music isn't yet in that computer's iTunes then you can copy it over to it : copying music.
