Windows 8 and Bonjour Printer

I do have the same problem and appreciate if some one can help.

I have the same problem. I called Brother for support and I was on the phone for over an hour. Bounjour does not allow to recognize the IP address for the printer, it sets it to be all zeroes so the printer cannot be configured. I have an MFC 7440N. It has worked wonderful with my airport, my macs, all my pc' s, and even on Windows 7. This needs to be upgraded by Apple. I am connecting the printer with an usb cable. I am not a happy camper.

I have the same problem with my MFC-490-CW printer. When I install the first time using wifi connection, no printer was detected. Then I install it through USB connection; and install again through wifi connection. The problem was solved. I can use all the functions properly. : )

I am having a similar problem with my printer. I have a Windows 8 PC plugged directly into the Airport Extreme Base station and my printer connected to the USB port of the base station as well. The computer won't recognize the printer for some reason. I think it is either that the HP P1006 router needs to be updated for Windows 8, or that the Bonjour 2.0 has to be updated to work with Windows 8. I don't think I should need Bonjour because my computer is plugged directly into the router. My Windows 7 laptop and Macbook Pro both print fine using Bonjour. Thanks for your help.

I have found the answer:

Step 1: install bonjour

step 2: using windows 8 add printer device and choose network printer with manual setting.

step 3: choose using existing port :IP_Apple_AirExpress9100 , if the port not found try creat new port and using AppleAirExpress which default is 10.0.1.1 and port 9100

Step 4:Install printer driver. choose windows update

Does anyone know how to setup an HP P1006 printer? I have my printer plugged directly into the Airport Extreme and have my Windows 8 PC plugged directly into the LAN port. I saw that you were able to connect the Airport Express, but I tried this with the Airport Extreme and it didn't work. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Step 1: install bonjour

Step 2: using windows 8 add printer device and choose network printer with manual setting.

Found the printer Epson SX218 and worked successfully

I have just discovered that you don't even need Bonjour to print!

If your printer is plugged in via a USB connection to your Airport then just go to this site and follow these steps.

Yes - I know it says it's for XP but I have just done on both a Windows 7 and Windows 8 laptop.

Read carefully and follow the instructions - don't just follow the pictures - and it will work like a dream.

I have never been able to get Bonjour working on Win 8 although it was working on Win 7 until last week when I installed all the lastest updates and then . . . ZILCH! Prints would spool but not print.

This method is quicker for printer too rather than using Bonjour.

Instructions fromthat site work without using Bonjour.

You pretty much create a new TCP/IP printer port, enter the AirPort's IP address in, pick a eneric network card, pick a driver for your printer and you're done.

Thank you PommetteInSpain! This worked like a charm! After months of struggling with this problem, I can finally print from my Windows 8 laptop to my printer, which is plugged into Airport Extreme. Wonderful. Now, do I dare uninstall Bonjour? I would assume yes, but am so fearful of messing up what it took me so long to fix!!

You should be able to uninstall Bonjour with no problem. I deleted it from my Windows8 laptop and it seems fine,
