Jan 2, 2013 3:12 PM in response to Gary1177by Phil0124,Go into Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars->Accounts->Tap on your Gmail account. Then turn off "Archive Messages"
When you do that, deleting them on the iPad will cause them to be deleted on the Gmail server also.
To delete them on iPad. try swiping to the right on the email in the list, or using the trashcan icon when the email is open.

Jan 2, 2013 4:25 PM in response to Gary1177by Gary1177,To clarify, I turned off archiving on gmail on my ipad. I deleted emails on gmail. I also emptied my trash. I can no longer see the emails on gmail. However, when I do a search for sender on my ipad I can still find them on my ipad. How do I delete them and prevent this from happening in the future?

Jan 2, 2013 4:50 PM in response to Gary1177by CollinFarmer,You'll need to delete all emails stored in the "All Mail" folder for those not to appear, that's where the archives are stored.

Jan 2, 2013 5:04 PM in response to CollinFarmerby Gary1177,They don't appear in the "all mail" folder but I still see them when I "search iPad". Is it possible the iPad and gmail haven't synced yet? I deleted them several hours ago.

It may be possible about them not syncing yet, I use Gmail and have no problem. Collin may be right, it could also be whether you are having the Gmail server "push" the emails to your iPad or if you have your iPad "fetch" the emails from the Gmail server.

Jan 3, 2013 11:33 AM in response to Compukidby Gary1177,Is it better to have the Gmail server "push" the emails to the iPad or have the iPad "fetch" them? How would I set up the best option?

Jan 3, 2013 7:41 PM in response to Gary1177by CollinFarmer,Fetch will refresh the server more often, "Push" doesn't work well on iOS devices.
