New Digitizer on Touch 2g still not working

I have an ipod 8gb 2g touch. i dropped it on the bathroom floor and the touch screen stopped working. i replace the digitizer with a new digitizer from Amazon, followed all the structions, and restored as a new ipod. it powers up fine, takes a charge, but the touch screen still is not working. what can i do next? am i missing something? I would like to resurrect it as i cannot afford a new one just now 😢

btw, i know i should have had the case on, but there ya go 😟
