Charger light not coming on

For awhile now, my laptop will sometimes charge and sometimes not. How do I know if it needs a new battery or a new charger? I checked the battery health under about this Mac and it says is normal. Does that mean it should still be good for awhile? When I plug it in, the light on the charger won't come on anymore. A few days ago it wouldn't come on but I'd move it to a different outlet nd it would come on after a while, but now nothing. I really can't afford a whole new computer so I really need to find out what I need to replace.

Thanks!

Hi mali328 -

i just read this in another thread and it worked for me so I though maybe it'd work for you?

You've just got to warm up the actual part that plugs into your computer and then the charging light should turn on nicely. (Maybe you could rub it between your hands for a few seconds)

But this DOESN'T always work!

I suggest that if this doesn't work, maybe you should take it into an Apple Store

Cheers and Good Luck!

Best way to find out is to try with different parts. If you know someone with a working MacBook charger (one from a MacBook Air or MacBook Pro would work as well) ask them to let you try it. If it works consistently, the issue is probably with your charger. You can try the same thing with a second battery.

They can do this for you at an Apple retail store, if you are near one. Be sure to make a reservation before going in or you may spend a long time waiting to talk to a Mac Genius.

Best of luck.
