Question about RAM on my Mid 2010 Macbook

Aright I am new to this. I have a mid 2010 Macbook 7,1 and i want to upgrade my ram. It has the stock 2 gb still. Reading through the discussions i see you can go up tp 8gb or higher but the apple website says only up to 4gb. So im not sure on which one to go on. My computer is currently running Mountion lion so by that you can tell it goes slow. I want it to go faster like everyone does. What would you guys recommend? And also a clarification on the max ram allowed on this macbook. Thank you.

MacBook (13-inch Mid 2010), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Your MacBook supports 16 GB of memory without any problem, so you can use 8 GB although Apple says that it only supports 4 GB. You can buy the memory in OWC
