I bought my iphone 5 online through Singapore apple store.

As soon as i openned the sealed package, 2 faults were found.

1. There is an obvious dent on the right hand top corner of the phone.

2. The wifi did not work.

 

I tried to bring my iphone to different places and searched for available wifi and it just could not

find anything, tried to search with my blackberry, ipad and other devices and it was found.

 

I reset the phone to its factory setting through itunes, but did not solve the problem.

I updated to ios 6.02 which says will fix the wifi issue, still did not solve the problem.

 

I discovered that if i bring the device very close to its source (a router) it will find a signal but

only receives an extremely low signal & even if it's connected, it will last only about 30 seconds and

it died again. Do you think i can replace it with a brand new one? The thing is i live in other country

and the warranty is not international.

    Hi, I have the same problem. I bought my iphone5 on 6 dec 2012. I only have wifi when I put my phone close to my router (10 cm).

    mine can connect,but the connection is very slow...like using a dial up connection. I have search any work around with this issue, but seems apple ignore this issue. i feel like i have been cheated by purchasing this problematic device..i regret i did not choose samsung galaxy s3..

    for my case, i set the router DNS back to default,and my wifi speed seems reasonable,but not at it maximum speed( like my PC ).so give a try

    Dear All,

     

    I sent the iphone to apple service centre in Singapore and detected that it was a hardware issue.

    I regret that their quality control over this device is very low.

    However, their service is good, they find no solution to fix my iphone and replaced it with a new one

    within minutes. So for all who experienced the same problem, just bring the device to apple and

    they will replace it with a new one.

     

    I hope they will be more careful on the launch of the next device and pay more attention to

    better quality control.

    If you bring it into an Apple Store and they verify the problem they will probably  reimburse you, I went in with an iPhone 5 a couple months after purchase becasue my lock button wasn't working and they got me a new phone.
