re-install OS 10.8.2

I have OS10.8.2. It keeps crashing / freezing. I would like to reinstall does anybody know the easy way to do this. I have loads of drives and space available.

Can I make a new startup sysem on another disk and then wipe the old system and then do a clean install on my SSD (my startup drive)
