Kernel Panic (log inside)

In December/January my MacBook Pro (OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2, Mid-2010, 15 inch) crashed 8 times. I was doing random stuff (mail, browser, Photoshop, Finder etc.). This is the most recent Kernel Panic log. I'm a KP noob, so unfortunately I can't "read" this log 😟 Could anyone tell me what I should do?

Get rid of any anti-virus, anti-malware, any performance enhancement tools, any I/O accelerators, any optmizers, any disk defraggers, anything that purports to make OS X better or faster or safer or whatever. These sorts of tools can and variously do cause weird crashes.

Then remove all external USB devices, all external USB hubs, and external monitors and external storage. all devices. Power glitches and bus glitches can and variously do cause weird crashes.

If there's any add-on third-party RAM, consider removing it for testing.

See if the crashing persists.

If the crashing does persist, I'd then see if selecting the integrated controller helps, if crashing persists. (As mende1 suggests.)

And yes, mende1 does have a good case; the graphics card is a good potential suspect, given that backtrace. But I'd prefer to simplify the system hardware and software configuration to just the base box, before affixing blame to the graphics widget.

Then it's a trip into Apple for a look.

You have the MacBookPro6,2, the Edsel of Macs. It may be covered by this program:

MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010): Intermittent black screen or loss of video

Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested.

Print the first page of the panic report and bring it with you.

Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.

*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.
