Migrating user accounts

Hi all,I'm trying to move a user account from one macbook to another.The one i'm trying to move an account from is running 10.7.5.The one i'm trying to move it to is 10.6.8.I've got to the stage where where both macs are looking for each other,their connected with an ethernet cable and also both connected to the same wireless network,but they don't seem to be able to find each other.Any ideas ????
