Doing a Google Search on Iphone or Ipad chokes my wireless network!

Almost every time I do a google search in safari on my Iphone5 or Ipad2 (happened with ios 5&6), it chokes my wireless network. I am still connected, just not going anywhere. Found this article that said to change DNS entries to googles 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.8.4 but IT STILL CHOKES! Help Brainiacs! I am yelling some very unladylike things upon each reboot (which solves the symptom but not the problem and leaves me vexed and mean.)

Any suggestions?

How new is your wifi router, and how many devices are connected to it at one time?

Got it last summer. Two computers and two iphones and one ipad connected but usually only one or two at most using network at a time. Do u recommend a particular router change?

Just my experience with several routers, as i had more devices connected, i encountered more disconnects from wifi and had to reboot my wifi more often. I found that if i got a router that supports 20 devices, i was ok. Ended up with a netgear then went to a apple time capsule.

So I tried Chrome, and it does not cuse this problem. It is surely a Safari/Google issue. ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS PROBLEM? I cant be the only one.... Using Chrome will work for searching but it is **** inconvenient...

Do you have the google app on your phone? if so i saw where somewhere else posted that if they had the google app open and not signed out of google in the app ( and not closed at the bottom, how you double tap the home button and close the apps ) then it would cause this issue also.

Maybe you could try clearing all the history and cache of safari in settings. then go to advanced, website data and remove all website data. hope this helps

Thanks freak. I just did a firmware upgrade and that seems to have done it in combo with DNS change. Things also running much faster on speedtest. Bonus! I will also do as u suggest.
