Do you have the Wifi only iPad, or the cellular version? The Wifi iPad does not include the GPS hardware, so it has to determine your location from the local wifi networks it encounters. This only works if those networks are in the database and is not reliable all the time.

Thanks. But what database. .? I live in Ireland and run on wifi only system Im new to ipad so don,t know that much . Could you help
Commercial outfits drive around recording the locations of various wifi networks, usually public ones. If they haven't mapped your area, or if the networks available have changed, then your iPad won't be able to tell where it is.
Hi i can understand that but I have my location set on my phone to use with all apps so why not my new ipad ? what am I doing wrong ?
You have been told why it is not working for you. The router you are connecting to is not in the location database (where ever that is). If you want better location support, get an iPad that includes GPS. Then it does not matter if your router is in a location database or not.
Your phone uses the cell tower and possibly GPS (depend on the phone) to determine location. These are not avilable on your Wifi iPad. It is forced to rely on databsed information about your internet priovider network, whiich can sometimes be incomplete.
One way to test this is to go out and connect to a public WiFi hot spot. These are usually well mapped. If your iPad can use location services there, that will be a pretty good indication its an issue with our connection at home (and unfotunately not one you can do much about).
Also, have you actually turned location services on for the iPad? Open the Settings app > Privacy > Location Services. You can turn it on for the device as well as determine which apps are permitted to use it.

Sorry you feel that way. I tried to help but apparently you don't want to know why it is not working for you. I even offered you a viable (the best) alternative. Oh well. Good luck.
