How do I move photos from iPhoto folder in to iPhoto?

Hello. I downloaded some pictures from my camera to the iPhoto folder/library by accident. (Usually I download to a folder on desktop and then drag that folder to iPhoto to get them in there.) I really just wanted them to go right into iPhoto so I could see them there. How do I get the pictures from the library folder into iPhoto? I can't seem to drag them or import or copy them and from what I've read on the forums I shouldn't be mucking about with them in that folder anyway. I just want to get them into my iPhoto so I can see them, not just in a folder where I have to click on each individually to see them.

Thank you!

Exactly where did you put thephotos? In the pictures folder? or in the iPhoto library package (note that the primary rule of iPhoto is NEVER make any changes of any sort to the structrue or content of the iPhoto library - this includes not adding or deleting anything from it)?

The only way to do that is to import them to the iPhoto library using iPhoto (or image capture)

That depends on exactly where they are - if they are in the iPhoto library package you need to drag them out (making sure that you make NO other changes) and then import them to iPhoto

They were in the iPhoto library folder. I dragged them out to the desktop and then imported them. Thank you. Now, like I said I usually create a folder on the desktop when I download pictures from my camera and image capture asks where do I want to put them. I then drag that folder to iPhoto and delete the folder. There is no other way to download directly to iPhoto so they just appear there, is there? That's what I was trying to do when I chose iPhoto as a place to put them. (I think I chose iPhoto and then maybe made a folder. That could've been my mistake.)

Thanks for the help.

Sure - as noted yu can not download direclty into iPhoto - you must import into iPhoto

either iPhoto or image capture will import directly from your camera or card reader and either can be set to automatically open when you attach the camera or put a card in the reader - iPhoto preferences set action when camera is connected - the default setting is to open iPhoto when a camera is connected

Ah, that's right. I think I changed that setting a while back because I didn't want iPhoto to open every single picture on the camera when I'd only just taken a few and wanted access to those. I have a lot of pictures still on my camera because my iBook is so full (and slow) I don't want to put too much more on here.

Thanks a lot for your help.
