You don't seem very knowledgeable! SIM cards are definitely used for our iPads. Clearly what people are asking is can a SIM card be used in the MacBook Pro so they have service via their cellphone provider at all times? Your answer is pathetic suggesting a SIM card is only used for cell phones when you not only promote cellular coverage on iPads but charge more to have the option too.

Just after having the communication in January in this forum I solved the problem quite easily with an adapter with the name D-Link (3G HSUPA USB ADAPTER DWM-156). I place the SIM card in this adapter and stick the adapter in the USB-socket and the installed SW (delivered in package) starts. The SW lets me manage the connection and offers some usefull statistical data.
It really doesn't make sense that the Macbook doesn't have a drawer like iPhone or iPad to use the SIM card.

Don't be stupid, you know sims aren't only for phones. SIMs are for any device that can register to a carrier. Tablets, laptops, gps or any other device that require an Internet connection. Soon MacBook will have an integrated gsm modem. It's just that MacBook doesn't have this technology yet.

Hello sig. I want to get connected to internet. I bought the MacBook today and it fnctions already with the WLAN at home. And I want to use it also in areas without WLAN. I hope my problem is clear now.

As you wrote your answer a friend told me that I need a UMPS stick. Is it correct? (I was surprised to find no slot on MacBook like I have on iPhone and iPad to stick in the SIM-card.)

Again a sim card is for a cell phone. If you want to use your cell phone as a tether to get internet where there is no WiF contact your cell phone provider and they will advise you of the costs and the cabling you need. If you want to connect using a usb stick contact a wireless provider for their help with the stick, service costs and modem files.
