I am still getting distortion and high pitched whistles and error message. This happend once before but after installing the new driver things worked fine. Now i'm not getting anywhere. Thanks for any help !!!!
G5 dual 2.5,
Mac OS X (10.4.6),
Logic Pro 7.1.1/ MOTU 828mkII
This happens sometimes with 828s
You need to reset it.
Push the settings knob in and turn it clockwise until you see the Factory Default in the LCD.
Then do what is says.
Make sure you disconnect the firewire cable first.
Or try setting the optical input in the MOTU firewire console to 'ADAT" instead of 'None' (or vice versa if already set to "ADAT'- toggle it in other words)
Quit Logic before you do this so that Logic sees the changes on relaunch.
Just a note, I've had this problem as well with the MoTu 828ii. There is an issue with this system not functioning properly with Pro Logic 7.1. Out of the blue, I start getting a message "Midi and Audio out of synch" messages, and there is no sound. I tried downloading the latest driver, no go.
I called the MoTu people and they aren't very helpful with their system's conflict with Pro Logic. I wouldn't recommend anyone buying the Motu at this point. I'm thinking of Apogee if I can't get this thing running soon.
Good news!
Thanks so much for the help with this - I don't know what I would have done. I was about to go out and spend money on Apogee because I thought there was something seriously wrong with the Motu 828ii with Logic.
Whenever you get a message that says audio and midi are out of sync and the sound doesn't happen, reset to factory settings on the LCD using the knobs (instructions are in the manual, but the instructions above are pretty good too).
be aware that apple has no interest in companies like motu. compatibility issues will continue as apple starts to push its own i/o boxes. this will force users to buy them out of frustration - whether they're actually better or not.
