Software Update - "Failed to load distribution file"

I am having difficulty getting Software Update Server to work. It seems to be running correctly, but when clients in need of an update try to connect, it says that there is nothing to update. Looking at the Console shows:

Sofware Update[3180] * Unable to use product zzz061-2353.
Sofware Update[3180] * Failed to load distribution file at http://dns.bordo.com.au:8088/zzz061-235/56z5657hzDXS3mXVd6wSSgmJYfngvxqz4p/061-2 355.English.dist

It says this for each update that SUS has downloaded.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

James.

Hi,

It maybe that the files haven't been downloaded correctly to the server when the service was first started. If you look at /usr/share/swupd/html it should contain all the software updates, presently around 3.2GB in size. You can try stopping the service and removing the contents of this folder. When you then start the service again it will download all the updates from apple. Once this has fully completed try updating you clients again.

This resolved any issue I have seen with the service.

Hope this helps

Gary
