No. You must return if you can and buy a new one. Or sell if you cannot return and buy a new one.

Ok. thank you. But a friend of mine said that you can actually upgrade your storage capacity in your iphone storage settings using your itunes account. Is that true?

No. He may be confusing it with iCloud storage, which can be purchased from the iPhone.
