iPhone 5 GPS features

Is there any way to get the GPS to talk to me? I am having a hard time figuring out how to get audio on the app...I downloaded Google maps, which started talking to me off the bat, I would just like to know if I can get the preinstalled app to talk as well. Thanks for your help!
