Q: music transfer from pc to mac

I have a large music file on a separate hard drive that I used with my old pc. I want to transfer this to my new macbook pro, but I'm not sure which of the music files I'm supposed to save it in - there seem to be several options.

Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old drive to the new computer.

Thanks, but the music files weren't in iTunes - they are in a windows format. I managed to move the whole file, but when I want to play anything it only allows meto play a sngle track at a time, not a whole album. Any suggestions????
