Q: Uninstalling old versions of Python

Hi,

in the following directory:

/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/

I have 4 different python versions: 2.7(Current), 2.6, 2.5. 2.3.

Do I really need all of them? Can I just keep the Current?

If I can remove the non Current ones, what is the correct prcedure?

Thanks,

Luca

I don't have a full answer for you. But when I do ls -l /System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions, I see Current is mapped to 2.7 and both 2.3 & 2.5 are mapped to 2.6. So I only have 2 versions. May be it is the same with you? I'm inclined to keep both because I think both versions are still widely in use.

There is actually a 3.x version out there as well but that is not fully backwards compatible with 2.7 so some really big platforms out there (google app engine, etc) still support only 2.7 I think. So even if you install 3.x you want to keep 2.7.
