I have a 13" MacBook Air, purchased 5/11. I want to restore it to its original condition. I tried re-installing the OS which worked, but it did not remove all of my files and software. Thanks!

You missed the crucial step that you perferm, before you re-install the OS. First, you must boot to the Recovery Partition, then launch Disk Utility. Using Disk Utility, perform an erasure/format of the main partition startup partition. After it is erased, then go ahead an perform the OS installation.
Thanks! To boot to the recovery partition, do I reboot and hold down the "r"? Then to re-install the OS, how do I rstart the computer to perform the re-install?

When I perform this only 1 hard drive comes up not the RECOVERY HD one. HELP!
