Configure Outlook on MBP for icloud email?

Thanks Csound, but I already entered those settings and I'm still getting th error message and sometimes this one:

5.7.0 No AUTH command has been given.

Cannot send mail. The SMTP server does not recognize any of the authentication methods supported by Outlook. Try changing the SMTP authentication options in Account settings or contact your network administrator.

Account name: "Icloud"

Error code - 17092

Hi Csound, these are the settings I'm using;

Now, strangely, I can send from the icloud account, but every time it sends and receives it appears to function correctly, but is throwing up the error message each time, see below;

@'Shoot..' - I agree the instructions DO seem straight forward and as far as I can see I am complying. I am also woking with mail, which being Apple's own is syncing correctly with my two mail accounts, I wanted to get Outlook working fully functionally so that I could decide which worked best for me. Also, Outlook syncs nicely with my icloud account online, enabling exchange of contacts etc between my MBP and PC, hence the reason for wanting to keep it.

As ever, grateful for ideas as to what Outlook is seemingly objecting to - thanks (btw I am abroad at the moment and internet access is 'sketchy').

Yeah, I have wondered about that too Shoot, though tbf the bandwidth is not really that bad, all I really meant was that I am staying with family, where getting onto the net has to be when I can fit it in, whereas at home I'm usually connected permanently. Strange the error reports I'm getting, will have to see if they persist once we're home. Also, we have an impending move overseas too, where the bandwidth is better than at 'home'. Time will tell I guess, just thought I'd trow it open to the community - thanks everyone!

In which case, can anyone recommend a good mail client that does run on the PC and is compatible with icloud?

I'm not actually too worried about the events/calendar etc, as I never really use those anyway, but Outlook does allow me to update contact details etc via icloud, which is enough. In fact, as I said, it even appears to be working for my needs, just annoying that it keeps informing me about some error which doesn't really affect my life. What Outlook could do with is some sort of, 'yes thank you I know and it doesn't matter in this case' type button. Maybe it has that function? Must dig deeper into the melee that is Outlook settings. Or choose a different client on the Mac? Would be a pity though, as it's part of the office suite, which is otherwise excellent. And I like the other features within Outlook. 😟

Thanks again both! @Shoot - may be a good idea for me, I run Thunderbird on th PC, maybe I'll install it on the Mac as well then and give that a try. Csound.. agreed, bizarre arrangement!
