After updating my iPhone 3GS to iOS 6.0 I cannot activate my iPhone. Please help. Don't know if its because of apple or me.

This is usually symptomatic of a phone that was hacked or jailbroken to unlock it.
what message do you get?
where did you get the phone from?
was your phone ever locked to a different phone carrier?

If there has been modified software installed prior to the update, this could also be a reason for not being able to activate the phone again:
Yeah I think it was jail broken before. Got it from a friend. Seemed to be bricked. Then I got it to update to iOS 6. But now I get a message saying. Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting your iPhone to iTunes to activate it, or try again in a couple of minutes.

I think it was locked to Rogers. Not too sure. Got it from a friend.

Discussing jailbroken devices is forbidden by the terms of service.
Since you have not done the jailbreaking, you must know by now that doing so is problematic. It would only be fair to show you how to undo that damage. You might have success by restoring the iPhone by placing it in Recovery Mode, as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
Thanks guys for the speedy response. I realize now that I may never get this phone working. Very disappointing, but such is life sometimes. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated. Without jail breaking cause I do not believe in that. Thankyou once again. Have a blessed day...
