having trouble connecting to home network

I checked everything I could in these three articles....anything else you can send my way? Thanks for your time.

The only thing I didn't do was completely restart the modem and reset factory settings.....I did verify that everything they said in the articles was set up correctly as I was able to get into the modem and see how it is currently programmed. I won't tackle this myself...I will hire a pro before I go and really mess something up.
