my ipod touch 5th gen 32gb gets very hot when i try and turn it on.

it also doesn't turn on. when i tried to reset it, it just showed a bunch of line about the software like "panic: we are hanging here". can someone tell me what's happening?

it starts to get warm from the upper portion of the back and then spreads throughout the entire unit even to the screen. i just got it a couple of hours ago.

You can try the following. However, I suspect that you have a hardware problem.

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. If under warranty (yours should be), not abused and defective Apple will replace it on the spot
