MathCAD 6 on MacBook Mac OS X v. 10.7.4, need some hand holding to get this installed.

OS X Lion and Mountain Lion doesn't support Classic and PowerPC apps anymore, so you can't use this app. However, you can install Snow Leopard on a second volume if it came preinstalled with your computer or you bought it, so you will be able to use that program

The current version of MathCad for Mac is 15.0, you bought 6.0? it's ancient. Buy the current version.

I purchased MathCAD 6 because it is the only version that runs on the Mac, but it looks like I need an old version of the operating system. The current version on my MacBook is Mac OS X ver. 10.7.4.
Ahhh, then you need to follow the instructions posted regarding 10.4, and that will not easily install on your Mac.
MathCad 6 dates from 1995, a used Mac may be a better option.
As stevejobsfan0123 explained perfectly, Classic apps only works with Mac OS X 10.4 or older, so it's not possible to run it on your Mac, but there's another problem: MathCAD 15 isn't compatible with OS X, so you will have to buy the Windows version and install Windows on Boot Camp > http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp
I just purchased a copy of Mathcad 6 for Machintosh and I am in the installation process when I met the error message "can't open application INSTALL because the classic enviornment is no longer supported. What must I do? Mac OSX Ver 10.7.4
