Where to register Quicktime in System Preferences?

I cannot find where to register Quicktime Pro that I just bought. I'm on OS X 10.8.2 (Mountain Lion)

I've read all the other support questions here I can, but none help me. The instructions at Apple for registering QT Pro say:

"From the Apple Menu choose System Preferences. Click the QuickTime Icon and then click the Register button"

Please convey this to the people who wrote those instructions: THERE IS NO QUICKTIME ICON IN SYSTEM PREFERENCES PANE.

I tried deleting QT and reinstalling, but the system says QT cannot be deleted.

I tried installing a new version anyway; it did nothing. Same QT app comes up.

I cannot believe Apple has made something which should be so simple so incredibly frustrating....please advise.
