Please advise how to mass delete messages as opposed to delting one at a time or having to 'edit', tap 8 messages and delete? I would liek to delete the contents of f mail box at one action, but can not figure how to do so.

You are not missing anything. You have to delete them one at a time. Once they are in the trash, you can delete them all at once.
Bummer ----- Too bad - a 'select all' and then delete would sure be useful
Yeah ... and you are only one of zillion users who would like to be able to do this. I always suggest feedback. Let them know what you want and why its a good idea.
You can't on the iPad, but you CAN on your computer. Mass delete on your computer and they will disappear from your iPad.
