Cannot Drag Library Item into Bar

Hello Fellow Developers,

I have a bit of an issue that I am experiencing while within the Interface Builder in Xcode 4.5.2. On the view's properties, I selected that I wanted the top bar to be a navigation bar, and the bottom a tool bar. It is a single view application. If I simply drag in a bar from my library, I can put items on it just fine, but if they are declared in the view as top bar is Black Navigation, and bottom bar is Black Toolbar, I cannot drag in any items. Please help me figure this out. I have all the code for the buttons to work with, but can't add a button to the bars, only within the white part of the view.
