help iphoto says unreadable and i cant get in cant do the restore screen

What version of iPhoto and of the OS? What is the exact error message? What has recently changed?

Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys (continue holding until the first aid screen comes up) and launch iPhoto - rebuild your iPhoto library
