Wiggle minus signs
My friend's running apps wiggle when he depresses 1, but unlike mine, no minus signs appear so he can stop them running in the background. Any suggestions?

Yes, absolutely to all of your questions. Also ALL of his apps appear in the recents tray as if they're open even tho he has not opened them. When we noticed this problem, only his email, iPhoto & news apps had been opened by him. BTW, he's unsure if he ever had red minus signs as he never learned to close out what he wasn't using. We couldn't find anything in settings that seemed a logical fix.
You have seen this behavior on your friend's iPad? You are talking about the apps in the recents tray that appear when you double tap the home button? When you tap and hold down on one of the icons it wiggles but no red minus sign appears?
Two thoughts come to mind:
1. Is there a restriction?
Check Settings > General > Restrictions > Deleting apps
2. Was this iPad formerly a demo model?
Restrictions would not prevent you from closing apps. It can prevent deleting apps but not closing them.
Had he tried the basic first try fix for everything weird on the iPad? Rebooting the device.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
There could be something tot the theory that the iPad was a demo - or had some sort of profile that prevents closing app. That would be a strange profile, I would think, but do you know where the iPad was purchased?
Don't want to leave you hanging...my friend has gone out of town w/o trying to reboot...don't know why, other than fear of doing something "bad." I have a feeling that will do the trick, but he's going to Apple when he returns to watch them do whatever they will do. Thanks so much for your suggestions. It's appreciated.
Thanks for checking in. It will be interesting and enlightening to find out what the problem was. Let us know.
Will do.
