Jan 4, 2013 7:12 PM in response to rix1959by Kappy,About AirPlay and Airplay Mirroring
AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). For non-qualifying Macs you can try using Air Parrot.

Jan 4, 2013 7:25 PM in response to Kappyby rix1959,I have a brand new Apple TV so I assume it is the most current. Therefore my Mac Book Pro is too old and does not support Airplay? There is no way to update my laptop to function with Airplay? Air Parrot is the solution?

Jan 4, 2013 7:35 PM in response to rix1959by Kappy,I don't know if AirParrot is the only solution, but it is one solution.
To update your laptop you need to sell it and buy a new one that does support Airplay.

Jan 4, 2013 7:45 PM in response to Kappyby rix1959,That is not an option, sell a 2 year old top of the line Mac Book Pro because it is obsolete I don't think so. Thanks but no thanks. I will go to the Mac Store and speak with someone there, I find it hard to believe that they will not support a product that is two years old. Thanks for your input. Looks like Air Parrot may be the way to go.

Jan 4, 2013 7:54 PM in response to rix1959by Kappy,This is not a matter of support. Your model does not have the hardware needed; simple as that. There is nothing they can do to make your computer support what it lacks the hardware to support.
Furthermore, your model is hardly obsolete. It may not do Airplay but it must do all the other stuff you need to do.
Don't shoot me. I'm just the messenger.

Jan 4, 2013 8:01 PM in response to Kappyby rix1959,Thanks for the input. No messenger shooting necessary I am just a little disappointed that's all. All in all I am very happy with the computer, I'll take the Air Parrot route it seems to do everything that AirPlay does or at least pretty close. Thanks again I appreciate your efforts.
