Q: I own a Mac Book Pro, 2010 mid year, running OS X 10.8.2 Mountain Lion. Can I use Airplay Mirroring on this device?

AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). For non-qualifying Macs you can try using Air Parrot.

Jan 4, 2013 7:45 PMby rix1959,That is not an option, sell a 2 year old top of the line Mac Book Pro because it is obsolete I don't think so. Thanks but no thanks. I will go to the Mac Store and speak with someone there, I find it hard to believe that they will not support a product that is two years old. Thanks for your input. Looks like Air Parrot may be the way to go.

Jan 4, 2013 7:54 PMby Kappy,This is not a matter of support. Your model does not have the hardware needed; simple as that. There is nothing they can do to make your computer support what it lacks the hardware to support.
Furthermore, your model is hardly obsolete. It may not do Airplay but it must do all the other stuff you need to do.

All in all I am very happy with the computer, I'll take the Air Parrot route it seems to do everything that AirPlay does or at least pretty close. Thanks again I appreciate your efforts.
