my nano 6th generation is stuck on the language screen...how can I get to settings?

I bought a used Nano 6th generation. I hooked it up to my Itunes account. When I went to use the ipod, the screen was stuck on "language". I hit the english and then done button and it just tells me I touched those items. how do I get it off that screen?
