I believe you're saying not only did you forget your iPad's passcode, but additionally you don't know the encrypted backup passcode of your iPad's backup in iTunes.
In that case, you will have to restore your iPad as a new machine, and all your backup data will remain irretrievable.

then you cannot use the password protected Backup.

yes that's what i did . now the ipad backed up as a new ipad .. but are the old back ups somewhere on my laptop ?
Probably the old backup(s??? plural??? I doubt it) is in iTunes. You can look for it in iTunes' Preferences > Devices.
But it's just useless space if you don't know the password.

Did you look here > Where iTunes backups are stored on your computer
From the Link posted above.
Not that it will do you much good without the Password.
i did but now it only has the ones from the restored ipad . it's not crucial that i find this back up but i would like too . i really just need the last one i did before restoring the ipad
Once again, if you don't know the encryption password to the backup, finding it will do you absolutely no good at all.
Well, maybe it will do you a little bit of good: You could then delete it and free up some disk space on your computer.
shoot . because i think i replaced the password with a new one along with the new backups ... it was really for the photos. ive only had the ipad a few months and didn't have many backups on my laptop. the only thing i'd want is the saved photos
Well, forgot iPad backup password, right? Do not worry! I have ever had the same problem.
In case you had not kept a password, on a windows system the backup takes the password of the logged in username. Try with your windows password. Or, you should do as me I do - take the 3rd party recovery application:
Tenorshare iPhone Backup Password Unlocker.
