DELETING ALBUMS FROM IPOD TOUCH...PLEASE HELP

I have been trying to delete songs/albums that synced to my son's ipod touch 4th generation. I know how to delete songs/albums, however these songs/albums are light gray (not in bold print like usual) and will not allow me to delete nor play the songs. How can I delete these albums off of his ipod? These songs synced before I upgraded his ipod to the 6.0.1 (which is what somone told me to do to see if the albums would show up in bold so I can delete them).

iPod touch, iOS 6.0.1

Try:

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Unsyc/sync via iTunes

- Reset all settings

Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

- Restore from backup. See:

iOS: How to back up

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
