maximum software update on a powerbook g4

I have a powerbook g4 and I was wondering what is the maximum software update it can go up to?

Mac OS X leopard ?



And if any people know a place that I can buy a replacement charger 65 watts for my G4

I'm in the NYC Area like a store or anywhere

There are a lot of aluminum models. Leopard can run on any model PB starting with a


Model IdentifierPowerBook3,5


So, open Apple System Profiler in the Utilities folder and see what is displayed as your Model Identifier. If you have 3,5 or later then you can run Leopard provided it meets all the other system requirements for Leopard.


Leopard System requirements


You must have a Macintosh computer with:


  1. an Intel processor or a PowerPC G4 (867 MHz or faster) or G5 processor
  2. a DVD drive >built-in FireWire
  3. at least 512 MB of RAM (additional RAM is recommended for development purposes)
  4. a built-in display or a display connected to an Apple-supplied video card supported by your computer
  5. at least 9 GB of disk space available, or 12 GB of disk space if you install the developer tools

Look on eBay or Google the installer part numbers to possibly find at an on-line store. Here's what to look for:

After you install the base 10.5, download & install the 10.5.8 combo update at http://support.apple.com/downloads/Mac_OS_X_10_5_8_Combo_Update


The DVD should look like this

Caution - Leopard does not support classic mode. So, if you currently open OS 9 apps in classic mode, you won't be able to do this if you upgrade to Leopard.
