What is VCR mode?

Advice on this list is often: "Make sure that your camera is set to "VCR Mode" when getting FCE to recognise it".What is "VCR Mode", what does it do and what do the letters stand for?

Steve.

VCR (or VTR) mode simply means "Playback" mode as opposed to "Record" mode.

It stands for "Video Cassette (or Tape) Recorder" mode.

It refers to the fact that your camera is playing back like a video recorder and not filming like a camera.
