Hot to record DM10 with Logic Pro ?

So, I have a DM10 an want to record a track with it. I plugged it with a Y cable, then when I record it by choosing Stereo Input (1-2 canals), the sound is balanced on the right only. What's the problem ? I have to say that it is directly plugged from the drum to my MacBook. Does the problem come from here ?

MacBook Pro (15-inch Early 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.4)

I have this cable.

That should do it.

Go for the obvious first.

You already have tested both L/R outouts on the DM and the mini-jack is plugged all the way into the Mac.

In Utilities/Audio MIDI Setup You have LINE IN selected as the Audio Input and the rec level sliders set the same.

You can test the cable by reversing the 1/4" jacks and see if you omnly get input on the left side.

Yes, thank you ! This worked. Unfortunately, this helped me half… Now the sound is centered, but my problem now is that there's no "spread" of the pieces of the kit. I mean it's like if it was in mono. :\ I'd like the cymbals and the drums have a spacial repartition, like in surround audio. I recall I have a DM10 Studio Kit Module. I think it's possible to do what I want to do with.

Just for information, what does it change that Universal Track Mode is selected or not ? (If you have the time for it, and whether you can explain it ^^)

Actually, this is a Mistake on my part, Universal Track Mode should be selected! I have no idea what I was thinking... the coffee hadn't kicked in yet.

For now, De-Select Independent Monitoring Level.

Ok, back to the original problem....

Post a screen shot of your mixer when the problem is occuring.

Yes, I do have this kind of cable. I tried, it does exactly the same thing with both: inversion right/left, and plugging iPhone in the Mac Record In while playing a song.

Still only the right side...

Ok, you have a folder called Utilities, correct? (I'm on 10,6,8) so things may be different.

Inside that folder is Audio-MIDI Setup correct?

Open it and look at the audio tab, see what the recording level looks like for each side.

This is an an odd problem, maybe someone else could jump in here with some ideas?

I just discovered something: When I recorded a video of my screen with Quick Time and chose to record the sound by connecting my Headset Line Out to the Integrated Line In with a cable, I figured out the sound was lateralized on the right. So it comes from the computer, not the hardware.

Yes, that's why I wrote this.

Yes all my apologies, I totally forgot what you wrote before. :S This solved the problem with recording the video & audio screen. The value for canal 1 was very low, what does explain eveyrthing, when I chose Mono on canal the sound was poor, then when I chose Canal 2 on Mono, the sound was normal. I'll try tomorow to record with my drum kit and will let you know if this works too. But it's quite like you've already solved the problem. 😉
