"tiling" a "cascade" of open windows

hi all.

i tend to have a lot of windows open along with a lot of different software and some in particular seem to take a lot of managing in terms of screen real estate and accessibility.

in particular i find myself "offset tiling" open Pages documents and open Safari "groupings". usually this takes the form of my having the document i am working on the most in say Pages about an inch off the edge of the screen on the left and all the way at the top, then i take the "second" Pages document and move it about a quarter inch down and a quarter inch to the left, then i take the "third" document and put it another quarter inch down and to the left. this way when i click on the TOP Pages document i make it active and can work on it but if i need to get to the "third" one i can click on it on the left hand side of the one i am in and get to it. then if i need to get back to the first one i still have that one visible on the right of the third one.

and then i do the same thing for Safari "groupings" which i use because it is too hard for me to soft through all the tabs if i just keep these open in one window and if i have them all open in separate windows this is also somewhat untidy.

i have been quite please to spend 50 U.S. on Snagit which is just a boon for my workflow and i am wondering if there is something similarly intuitive for automating and/or controlling a workflow such as the one i am using.

i saw this thread but i couldn't quite tell if there was a strong recommendation in it:

thanks for any help
