After upgrading to a new iPad the purchased apps get reloaded but not the points earned in them or purchased for them.  How do you get the apps with your points and scores from your old iPad to load on your new iPad?

Restore from the backup of the old iPad - assuming that you do have backup. That information and the in app purchases are stored in the backup. If you don't have a backup, you are out of luck.

Thank you for the quick response.

I have a backup of the old iPad on the iCloud. I upgraded it first to 5.1.1 then restored it from my iTunes backup on the pc.  I then setup iCloud and now the backups are going there. I can see both backups on the same iCloud since I kept the same apple I'd.

If I try to do a restore to the new iPad will it let me us the other iPads backup from icloud to do the restore?

If so then I will try that and hopefully my issue will be solved.

Yes you can use the backups from iCloud, but here is where I think that there might be a problem ... If I am understanding exactly what you are telling me. I want to make sure that I have the sequence of events correct,

You said that you upgraded the iOS and then you restored from the iTunes backup. The points/game saves/in-app purchases should have been in that backup if that was the last backup that you had before you updated the iOS.

Then you said that you have been backing up to iCloud since you updated the device. If the items that you are trying to recover were not on the iPad before you started backing up with iCloud, then they will not be in the backups either.

I could be misunderstanding you, but that's the way I interpret what you are saying. Now having said all of that, if I am wrong and you know that the saves/Points/purchases are in one of the iCloud backups, by all means restore from the backup and those items should be restored to your device.

You can read the instructions about restoring from the iCloud backup in the link that I posted. What the link does not make real clear about restoring from an iCloud backup is that you have to erase the device first and then restore from the backup. You cannot get to the iCloud backups otherwise.

Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and Settings will erase the device and you will have to activate the iPad once again and restore from the backup at the appropriate time.

If you have never restored from an iCloud backup or setup a new iPad via WiFi, this article will provide some insight. I assume that this is how you set up your new iPad, but just in case ...

I think you got most of it correct.

I have my old iPad that I upgraded to 5.1.1 from 4.x and it now has everything on it working correctly.  I switched the backup for it to the iCloud and it shows up there.

I bought the newest iPad and had set it up with the same apple I'd. I also backed this up to the iCloud and it sows up in the same iCloud as the other old iPad but in its own file.

My question was can I restore this new iPad from the old iPad backup on the iCloud instead of the new iPad backup since the new one for some reason did not bring in all the points and stuff in the apps.

I just wanted to verify one last time that I can do this and we are both understanding this the same.

Thanks for the last response and the information link provided.  Once I hear back from you and if the answer is yes that I can restore from the old iPad backup on the iCloud I will give it a try. Both iPad are using 5.1.1.

    Thanks

    Phil
