My ipad says "This ipad hasn't been backed up for 5 weeks. Backups happen when this i pad is plugged in, locked and connected to Wi-Fi."
I would like to know how to unlock it?

You might try a forced shutdown to begin with, hold down the top and home buttons together until the device shuts down, then restart it.
