Coffee and Keyboard....need some advice please

Hi all

Very down this weekend, have just spilt a splash of coffee ( prob half a tea spoon) over my macbook (a1278)

Turned off and dried with a cloth, left for a while and turned back on, all was working.........until the following morning, when turned on all booted fine and the first few clicks on my trak pad worked ok and then the Left click appeared to be working as a Right click and keyboard was not working. Managed to open Word and tested the keys one by one, some number keys gave a message as 'command not recognised' Space bar was acting as a 'page down' key. Every time i click on trac pad it works as if I'm using the Right Click.

Got a feeling I may need a new keyboard but just wandered if there is anything I can do.

thanks everyone

You're correct; you probably do need a new keyboard, however let the keyboard/computer dry out over a few more days. It's the same with R/C cars; if you get water in the motor, let it dry over a few days (Can be up to 2 weeks) and then it should be fine again.

If it was that small amount of liquid then it shouldn't have caused that much harm, just let it dry out some more, other than that you might need a new keyboard 😟

Hope this helps.
