The adapter only appears to handle Iframe quality. It does not see video in 1080p or avchd on my video cameras, anybody else experienced similar

I purchased the camera connector with a view to loading video and photos onto my ipad while on holidays. However it only appears to see footage recorded in Iframe. I have tried changing to AVHD and 1080P recording without success. Before I return the adapter I wonder if anyone has any suggetsions to resolve the issue, the unit obviously recognises my cameras.
