When I search by artist on my ipad within the iTunes interface the album list is incomplete

...But when I search by that song, that song shows up as part of the album.

This is annoying as I usually listen to music by album not by song. So when I want to listen to say, Soft Machine but don't know which album,

I input Soft Machine and only two albums show even though I have 5 albums.
