Does downloading a movie take longer if u have a US apple ID and u want to download a movie in Australia

I have a US apple ID and am now living in Australia. I am trying to rent and download a movie, but it seems to take forever to download. Our Internet is fine and fast. So frustrated when u start watching a movie & it stops because it has to download some more before I can continue watching.

Is it because I have a US apple ID and using it in Australia?
