i have an 4.3 iphone but under general there is no heading for software updates can anyone advise me please?

I do not have software update on my Iphone but iI have on my ipad .

I cannot sync over my pc as it will only give me my music and not the things I need like contacts.

Can anyone help please?

Connect to itunes, click on check for software update under the summary tab, then click update.

Also when you connect to itunes, Right click on your phones name to the left and click backup, sounds like you havent backed it up. Not sync!!
