How can I get Whatsapp on my iPhone 3G 4.2.1?

I've known for quite a while that Whatsapp doesn't work on iPhones 3G anymore. However, yesterday I read some articles about how the publishers had decided to make it available again. I then tried to download it, but the Apple Store still says that I need version 4.3 in order for it to work. Is there any way I can get it?

I haven't seen the articles, but after deciding to make this change the publishers have to develop and release a new version with backward compatibility. If they haven't done the work yet this can take time. After then have completed the update and tested it they must submit it to Apple for approval. This can also take time. So I suspect it will be several weeks (at least) before it is available.

Apparently Whatsapp has "reactivated" the old version of Whatsapp, after trying to blame Apple for their (Whatsapp's) moronic handling of this recent debacle. It is apparently working, but not everywhere, as of today.

There are long winded back and forths in these forums; too complicated and cacophonous to revisit. That's why I suggested to the original poster to do a search; he might need to wade through a lot of useless posts, but he might be able to solve his predicament.
